Ooredoo Fun Run 2022
FITNESS NEWS, Male’ City. The Male’ Fitness Club have been granted the opportunity to be the Fitness Partner at this year’s Ooredoo Fun Run on Friday 23 Dec 2022, at 4pm from Hulumale’ Central Park. We are delighted at this opportunity to contribute to one of the largest fitness events in the Maldives. Ooredoo expect over 5,000 participants.
Ooredoo return with the Fun Run
Ooredoo is hosting their 5 kilometer (5K) Fun Run after a two year break due to the recent global COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic kept us indoors most of the time, and restricted us to our homes at times. Movement restrictions were finally lifted two years later, on 13 March early this year.
As the pandemic progressed people started gaining weight. We could not move at the frequency and intensity at which we were moving and exercising before.
So we all got fat! Ooredoo’s Fun Run will be a welcome relief from these memories and marks our return to physical activity and good health. It is now time to burn the excess calories.
Fun Run Obstacles?
Ooredoo reports they are introducing obstacles at every kilometer this year. This is new. The organizers plan to place four different obstacles, one at every kilometer, except at the start and finish line. You are expected to navigate your way through these obstacles.
The obstacles are inflatable and made out of thick rubber. Chances of injury are small, while the sense of fun is maximized.
Everyone can do it.
Take a look back at Ooredoo’s Colour Run 2019. We can sense the vibe is back with over 5,000 people including families and young people already registered. People are ready to give it a go on the first day of school holidays.
One of the most glaring challenge for every participant is, can I complete the 5K course? Am I fit enough to do it? The answer is yes! You are fit enough to complete this 5K Fun Run with your children. You have 2 hours to do it. Everyone can do it!
It is a good idea to consider that your children will be fitter than you and they may set the pace. What if you cannot keep up? Our suggestion is for you to slow down till you get your breath back. A rule of thumb is, if you are so breathless that you cannot talk, you must slow down to a walk till you can. There is no need to stop. Just slow down.
A normal person takes about 50 minutes or more to walk 5 kilometers. If you walk briskly, you can do this distance in under 45 minutes without jogging. Therefore the additional time you take will be to cross the obstacles. While some obstacles may require you to crawl, other may require you to climb or jump. The abstacles add a fun challenge to a straightforward walk, jog or run, depending on your fitness.
Two hours is plenty of time. Congratulations to all those who registered. Everyone can do it.
