Bodybuilding finds Wellness
The concept of Natural Bodybuilding promoted by the WNBF will be a game changer for the Maldives in the fitness, sports and wellness space. Natural Bodybuilding is WADA compliant.
Muscle Load
On 26 March 2024, a group of interested fitness clubs attended a meeting convened by Muscle Load Pvt Ltd (Mohamed Haleem, Kesto) at the ADK Hospital. ADK boasts the first local Wellness Club opened in 2023 in association with Heat Health & Fitness, which was established much earlier in 2002.
Male’ Fitness Club took the leap in 1989 as the first commercial fitness club in the country. The Bodybuilding enthusiasts at the Male Fitness Club found their niche at the newly established Muscle Load in 1993. Muscle Load is the first gym dedicated to Bodybuilding.
Natural Bodybuilding
Muscle Load Consultant Hussain Zinan (TfG) presented a proposal for fitness clubs to field drug free Bodybuilders for their first edition of the MALDIVES NATURALS agreed for the first week of October 2024.
Company Consultant Jam Allo’s remarks echoed the philosophy of the Maldives Natural Bodybuilding movement.The respected fitness personality wished future bodybuilder to take up natural body building as a matter of pride and ethical choice. He wished it be known to prospective parents that natural bodybuilding is a safe space for their children.
Heat Health & Fitness CEO, Aishath Shifana Wajeeh was upbeat on the participation of women in the WNBF Maldives event.
The Franchise
WNBF Maldives is a franchise secured by Muscle Load Pvt Ltd (1993), from the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation. The organisation is therefore not a national association. WNBF Maldives is essentially an event organiser, promoting the participation of Natural Bodybuilders mandated by the world federation.
Embracing Wellness
The sport of Bodybuilding, while closely associated with fitness has been controversial internationally. Bodybuilding have found it impossible to get a place in the Olympic Games due to its association with substances banned by the World Anti Doping Agency.
The Natural Bodybuilding movement sheds a bright light into the future of Bodybuilding with WADA, (World Anti Doping Agency) compliant protocols.
Game changer
The birth of natural bodybuilding domestically bode well with the wellness brand of the country’s tourism industry. Maldives is a brand associated with it’s unique natural environment suited to holistic wellness experiences.
WNBF Maldives plans to follow up their domestic edition of the Maldives Naturals with international competitions conducted globally by the world organisation. International Affiliations with the WNBF stands at 60 as the Maldives announced her affiliation along with Saudi Arabia this month.
